Absolute conservation law for black holes
نویسنده
چکیده
In all 2d theories of gravity a conservation law connects the effective (space-time dependent) ADM mass at all times and all radii with an integral of the matter fields. It depends on an arbitrary constant which may be interpreted as determining the initial value together with the initial values for the matter field. We discuss this for spherically reduced Einstein-gravity in a diagonal metric and in an Eddington-Finkelstein metric using the first order formulation of spherically reduced gravity, which allows easy and direct fixations of any type of gauge. Further possible applications (ideal fluid, black holes in higher dimensions etc.) are straightforward generalizations. On how energy conservation might prevent black hole explosions and violations of the third law
We claim that imposing energy conservation to the emission of Hawking radiation and to the modelling of black hole evaporation might prevent black hole explosions as well as violations of the third law of black hole thermodynamics. This is specifically shown for the general class of spherically symmetric quantum black holes described by an effective quantum vacuum invariant under boosts in the ...
متن کاملGravitational waves, black holes and cosmic strings in cylindrical symmetry
The emission of gravitational waves by black holes is under intense investigation, in preparation for the expected observational study of black holes and other astrophysical objects by upcoming gravitational-wave detectors. Most of this work is either numerical or in an approximation, since we lack a full physical understanding of the dynamics of black holes and gravitational waves. The accepte...
متن کاملExtremal black holes and the limits of the third law
Recent results of quantum field theory on a curved spacetime suggest that extremal black holes are not thermal objects and that the notion of zero temperature is ill-defined for them. If this is correct, one may have to go to a full semiclassical theory of gravity, including backreaction, in order to make sense of the third law of black hole thermodynamics. Alternatively it is possible that we ...
متن کاملOn Black-Scholes equation; method of Heir-equations, nonlinear self-adjointness and conservation laws
In this paper, Heir-equations method is applied to investigate nonclassical symmetries and new solutions of the Black-Scholes equation. Nonlinear self-adjointness is proved and infinite number of conservation laws are computed by a new conservation laws theorem.
متن کاملBlack Hole Mass Formula Is a Vanishing Noether Charge
The Noether current and its variation relation with respect to diffeomorphism invariance of gravitational theories have been derived from the horizontal variation and vertical-horizontal bi-variation of the Lagrangian, respectively. For Einstein’s GR in the stationary, axisymmetric black holes, the mass formula in vacuum can be derived from this Noether current although it definitely vanishes. ...
